Where is Exmoor Cliff Retreat located?

Exmoor Cliff Retreat is located in the charming cliff-top village of Lynton within Exmoor National Park, North Devon.

Overlooking the Bristol Channel and just a short walk from Lynmouth, we’re perfectly placed for exploring the Valley of Rocks, the South West Coast Path, the Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff Railway and some of Exmoor’s most spectacular coastal scenery.

Despite our peaceful setting, restaurants, pubs, cafés and local attractions are all within easy walking distance.

Why is Exmoor Cliff Retreat adults only?

Many of our guests choose Exmoor Cliff Retreat specifically for its peaceful atmosphere. By welcoming adults only, we’re able to provide the calm, relaxing environment that has become one of the hallmarks of a stay at Exmoor Cliff Retreat.

Do you accept children?

No. Exmoor Cliff Retreat is exclusively for guests aged 18 and over.

Do you accept dogs or other pets?

No. Exmoor Cliff Retreat is a pet-free property.

While we understand pets are an important part of many people’s travels, our adults-only and pet-free approach is something many guests actively seek when choosing where to stay.

Is parking available?

Yes. Complimentary private parking is available on-site for all guests throughout their stay.

Do you offer single occupancy rates?

Yes. Selected rooms may be available for single occupancy at certain times of the year.

As Exmoor Cliff Retreat has just six bedrooms, availability can be limited during peak periods, but we’re always happy to discuss options. Please contact us directly and we’ll advise on the most suitable room and rate for your stay.

Which room is best for me?

That depends on the type of stay you’re looking for.

Myrtleberry – Perfect for guests who enjoy their own private balcony and morning sea views.

Summerhouse – Ideal for longer stays, with additional space, a sofa and wonderful double-aspect views across Lynmouth Bay and Exmoor.

Countisbury – A favourite for guests who appreciate a long soak after a day exploring Exmoor, thanks to its deep double-ended bath and sea views.

Hollerday – A cosy west-facing room that’s particularly lovely for summer sunsets.

The Cleaves – Perfect for guests seeking space, comfort and a peaceful top-floor retreat.

Kipscombe – Our largest and most luxurious room, with spectacular double-aspect sea views and an impressive super-king bed.

Are all rooms sea view?

Five of our six bedrooms enjoy direct sea views across the Bristol Channel.

Hollerday enjoys partial sea views together with beautiful west-facing sunset views.

Is breakfast included?

Yes. Breakfast is included with all direct bookings and is served in our sea-view conservatory overlooking the Bristol Channel.

Our award-winning breakfast has become one of the highlights of a stay at Exmoor Cliff Retreat and is prepared to order each morning using quality local ingredients wherever possible.

Can you cater for dietary requirements?

Yes. We regularly cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and other dietary requirements.

Please let us know when booking and we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs.

What time is breakfast served?

Breakfast is served each morning in our sea-view conservatory.

As a small guesthouse, we operate timed breakfast sittings to ensure every dish is freshly prepared and served at its best.

How far are restaurants from Exmoor Cliff Retreat?

Many of Lynton’s most popular restaurants, pubs and cafés are within a 5–10 minute walk of Exmoor Cliff Retreat.

Is Exmoor Cliff Retreat within walking distance of local attractions?

Yes.

The famous Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff Railway, Valley of Rocks, the South West Coast Path and many of Exmoor’s most spectacular coastal walks are all within easy reach of the house.

Is Exmoor Cliff Retreat suitable for guests with limited mobility?

Due to the Victorian nature of Exmoor Cliff Retreat, all guest bedrooms are located on the first and second floors and there is no lift.

We strongly recommend reviewing our Accessibility Guide before booking to ensure the property is suitable for your individual requirements.

Can I arrive early or leave luggage before check-in?
