Getting to Exmoor Cliff Retreat - The Easy Way from London

Lisa and Lisa made their journey to Exmoor Cliff Retreat the relaxed way — by train and bus from London. Their route was simple: London Paddington to Exeter St David’s, a quick change to the Barnstaple line, and finally the 309 or 310 bus to Lynton, which stops just a short stroll from our door. It’s an easy and scenic way to reach Exmoor without the need for a car, offering time to sit back and enjoy the rolling Devon countryside. For those who prefer to drive, we also offer complimentary on-site parking – whichever way you travel, your Highcliffe escape begins the moment you set off.

Lynton & Lynmouth is located on the North Devon coast, on the A39, between the towns of Minehead and Barnstaple.

From the M5 via J23 & A39 – Journey time: 1 hour 20 mins
From Bridgwater, take the A39 and follow the coastal route to Lynmouth.
From the M5 via J27 & A361 North Devon Link Road – Journey time: 1 hour 5 mins
From Tiverton, follow the A361 to the junction with the A399 at South Molton. Take the A399 to Blackmoor Gate and turn right onto the A39. Continue to Barbrook and take the left-hand turn opposite the petrol station.

Adventures by Bus – a spectacular open-top (occasionally a closed-top) bus journey along the A39 Coast Road, connecting Watchet, Minehead, Porlock, Countisbury, and Lynmouth.

Railway Stations

The nearest rail stations to Lynton & Lynmouth are Barnstaple and Taunton. Tiverton Parkway quite convenient by road (A361), but cannot be directly reached by public transport.
Taunton and Tiverton Parkway are both served by fast train services from London, Bristol, Birmingham and beyond. Trains are operated by Cross Country and First Great Western.
Barnstaple is easily reached by bus and is served by regular trains from Exeter, with onward connections across the UK.

Lynton & Lynmouth is also only 20 miles from the Minehead terminus of the West Somerset Railway, which can be reached from Lynmouth by the 300 bus service – summer only.
